Fires & Explosions

Although fire fighting training is a very important part  of every seafarers education, there is no substitute for the real thing. Nothing will spoil your day more than a fire at sea.
A modern FiFi3 fire fighting tug has awesome pumping capacity and can throw 3t of water per second over a distance of 200m at 14 bar pressure. It is sometimes possible to put out oil fires with sheer volume of  water.
However, a poorly aimed monitor can wreak havoc in a very short time and could quickly turn a vessel with a minor fire into a Constructive Total Loss, smashing portholes demolishing internal panels, buckling  bulkheads and flooding engine rooms possibly causing a vessel to capsise.

With an involvement in over 40 ship fires, we believe our practical experience in this field is unrivalled.
